Johnathan was the son of James and Nancy (Fleenor) Andis.
He married Nancy Jane Ingle on 20 Jul 1865 in Washington Co, VA.
Their children were: Eliza V, Elizabeth Catherine, Nancy Ann,
Mary Alice, Amanda W, Sallie Withers, James Martin, and Henry Newton.
